    2 Cultures, 1 Incredible Experience

    Updated: Oct 25, 2019

We're fortunate to have photographed and videoed so many weddings over the years and witnessing different cultures and traditions. From Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Asia and Africa we really have seen so much.

Victoria and Peter's wedding was a mix of Nigerian and Ghanaian traditions and cultures which were fascinating to see.

We were well briefed for the whole day after a pre wedding meeting a few days before the event so we knew exactly what was happening and when. The couple and family were a pleasure to work with and we'd probably also say the happiest bridesmaids we have ever seen, they really were lively all day but always on hand for the bride whenever needed, it was a pleasure to be with them!

How to Feel Confident in Front of A Camera

If you’re someone who is camera-shy, the idea of having your picture taken on your wedding day might make you feel a little nervous! Not only do you have to contend with the eyes of your friends and family watching you but there are cameras capturing every moment. The last thing you want is to receive your wedding photos back and find you’re pulling the most awkward faces because you feel uncomfortable.

With more than half of the public disliking photos of themselves, Abraxas, professional Bedford Photographers, have provided their top tips on feeling more confident in front of a camera.

Get Your Hair and Makeup Professionally Done

Your wedding day is a moment you will look back on forever and so, it’s important to look like the best possible version of yourself for the photos. We recommend having your hair and make-up done professionally on the morning of your big day. It will leave you feeling much more confident in yourself and this will show in front of the camera.

    Practice Smiling

Trust us on this! No matter how happy you are on your wedding day, smiling on command can be harder than you think. If you’re struggling to bring out a smile for every photo, why not try Tyra Banks’ ‘smizing’ technique or choosing memories that will always make you smile! By trying these techniques, you will feel much more confident about posing for your wedding cinematography.

Choose a photographer you get on well with.

It’s easy to choose a photographer based on their portfolio, but if you don’t click with them, you may feel less confident in front of the camera. Before you book your wedding photographer and videographer, book a meeting with them so you can go through the services they provide and the type of shots you would like. Not only will you be able to choose the shot you would like to see in your wedding album, but you will get a feel for the photographer; which will help you feel more confident in front of the camera.

Having complete trust in your photographers to get it right for you is also very important, you need to feel confident that you’ve booked a company that will make your wedding photography effortless and enjoyable for you. The actual experience on the day has to be a good one for you, so choose a company that has photographed thousands of weddings and get it right all the time, regardless of how nervous a bride and groom may be or if the weather isn’t on your side. Photographers who can handle those situations with ease will help your confidence.

Three Things to Do Before You Book Your Wedding Photographer

    Updated: Apr 17, 2019

You’ve booked the caterer and the band, now it’s time to book your wedding photographer. If you’ve never hired a photographer before, you might not know where to start or what to look out for. Abraxas, Bedfordshire Wedding Photographers, have provided their top three tips for finding the right professional wedding photographer to make sure you look back on your pictures with a smile.

    Research

Make sure you research a range of wedding photographers before you make your final choice. Look at their work and make sure to read any articles and reviews they have to find out how they work. Don’t forget to look at their social media channels to take a closer look at their wedding galleries. By researching a variety of wedding photographer and videographers it will provide a clear picture of how each company will capture your day and the type of service you can expect from them.

    Arrange A Meeting

Not everyone feels comfortable posing in front of a camera. It’s vital to choose a photographer you feel at ease with in order to feel relaxed throughout your wedding day. Before you book your wedding photographer, ask to meet them in person or talk to them over the phone. While they may shoot beautiful wedding cinematography, you might find you don’t gel with them very well. Having a good relationship with your photographer will not only ensure a stress-free day, but will also help them capture the best parts of the most memorable day of your life.

    Have A Wet Weather Plan

This is something commonly overlooked by most wedding couples. Unfortunately, in the UK there is always the possibility of rain so make sure your photographer has a plan for it. Most photographers carry large umbrellas and modern cameras that can withstand a lot of water, so if there is problematic weather on your wedding day it’s unlikely to be an issue. But if you don’t fancy braving the rain, your photographer should be flexible in their timings and allow time for the rain to ease. They should look at the bad weather as a challenge and turn any bad weather situation into a lovely moment for the couple; resulting in amazing photographs.

Here at Abraxas, we work with all of our couples to provide a bespoke wedding photography package. For more information about our services, get in touch with our expert team today, we’re happy to have a chat or you’re welcome to make an appointment at our showroom.
